Abstract: The three most common methods for transdermal medicine administration are topical lotions, hypodermic needles, and transdermal patches. The stratum layer of the skin acts as a barrier to molecules, allowing only a small number of molecules to pass through and limiting the effectiveness of most therapeutic medications. The novel medication delivery method known as microneedle helps increase drug availability and addresses a variety of problems with traditional formulations. The goal of active transdermal drug delivery with microneedles is to do away with the requirement for traditional syringe injections. A microneedle array is used to pierce the stratum corium in order to administer the drug as gently as possible. These are extremely small needles that pierce the epidermis and have a length of between 100 and 1000 micrometers. Microneedles can be used for many different things, including as illness diagnosis, cosmetic operations, and the administration of vaccinations and drugs. A microneedle's tip is too small to cause a nerve terminal to fire. There won't be any pain for the patient during a microneedle injection. It has been shown that microneedle arrays can increase human skin's in vitro permeability to calcian, a model medication, by up to four orders of magnitude. They could be inserted into the skin with ease and without breaking. The few human subjects' tests with microneedles seemed to be painless.
Keywords: microneedles arrays, transdermal drug delivery, corium.
