This dissertation aims to provide light on the circumstances in which legal and accounting professionals and their respective professions aid in the activity of money laundering. There is an aim to explore the criminal justice and regulatory reaction to the facilitation of money laundering by legal and accounting professionals in the UK, and to examine and theorise the role of professionals in facilitating money laundering by focusing on the interplay between three levels of explanation (personal behaviour, organisational structure, and external factors). It is not an unknown fact that when it comes to money laundering and related crimes, the UK is a high-risk jurisdiction. What, might as well be well- acknowledged, is the fact that legal businesses, firms and lawyers (especially solicitors) are attractive to money launderers because of the services they provide. Them holding a position of trust is an attractive quality to offenders. An exploration of this topic has not just become necessary, but absolutely vital in recent times because of the increment of money laundering in the United Kingdom.
