Abstract
ABSTRACT- India accounts for nearly 20% of the world’s blind population. There are several causes of blindness but the most common amongst them is cataract. This blindness is closely related to aging and it is therefore imperative to know the various causes of early onset of aging and cataract blindness. In this paper a Geo Ecological Model has been developed to understand the multifactorial nature of this disease and to understand what causes the early onset of aging in the country. Various lifestyle and environmental factors have been discussed for the purpose of mitigation and policy intervention so that the problem can be understood holistically.
