The occurrence of the ‘Psychological Thriller’ genre in the description of film has become common. Psychological issues have been mispresented in front of the audiences. Filmmakers have a responsibility to present these psychology issues in correct light, in their respective piece of work. They often manipulate, omit, or ignore the facts regarding the subjects included in the films and mould them according to their own preference. Informing people about certain issues through films is necessary but as time went by, filmmakers began to concentrate more on the Entertainment aspect rather than presenting audiences with factual information. Descriptive research design with mixed methodology has been used for this research: combination of qualitative research and quantitative research. This paper uses semi-structured interviews of professionals from the field of Psychology. Also, a survey was conducted by the researchers to study the data and to find out the gap between Psychology Thriller and the interpretation of it by the audiences. Movies from the 2001-2022 era were selected to encompass the audiences of the current generation. It was found that in trying to achieve commercial success the filmmakers lose touch with the key element, i.e., the Psychology and Thriller aspect of the story.
