An investment is a financial asset or item purchased with the expectation that it will generate income or appreciation in the future. An investment is the purchase of goods that are not consumed today but will be used to create wealth in the future. An investment is a monetary asset purchased with the expectation that it will provide future income or appreciation and be sold at a higher price. This analysis compares the investment behavior of the population of five divisions comprising twenty-three districts in West Bengal and India. In this context, the research work has analyzed individual investor behavior. The study analyzes the effect of demographic factors on individual investor behavior, and it is done using primary data collected through an online survey in West Bengal. The data were compared across five divisions and with secondary data gathered from various studies on Indian investors. The results of the association between demographic factors and individual investor behavior show that expert opinion and specifically considering a private investment is most lucrative among all ages. Males are more likely to invest in the private sector compared to females. The same trend is shown all across India.
