The success of an educational institution depends largely on the willingness of its teachers to help it succeed. And one of the key factors that make teachers give their best in their work is the level of their morale. Morale is a difficult concept to explain but easy to feel the moment one walks in to an educational institution. Positive morale is the driving force behind a productive teacher while poor morale can be highly detrimental. In this short research work an attempt has been made to study factors affecting the morale of college faculty in Darjeeling district. The tool used is Purdue Teacher Opinionnaire (PTO) and the study is limited to the gender, duration of work experience and the educational qualification of the faculty. The study finds that while gender had some effect on the morale of the college faculty in Darjeeling district, work experience and educational qualification did not have any impact.
