Datacenters play an important role in supporting ever-expanding significant demand for computational infrastructure in the current digital age. Optimal utilization of these resources is essential for cost cutting, energy usage and resource efficiency. This paper focuses on datacenter utilization measurement and reservation. For utilization measurement of resources various parameters are collected such as CPU utilization, memory usage and network bandwidth utilization. The real time utilization parameters of the resources were analyzed to get more insight about the utilization pattern of resources. Reservation is a very important approach for optimal distribution of resources. On deep investigation about various reservation processes we reserve resources in an agile or classic way of reservation. The Agile reservation concept is derived from the agile methodology. It is a flexible and adaptive approach to reserve resources for every sprint. The classic reservation refers to the traditional or waterfall-style approach to reserve resources. Pool of users and resources were created to reserve resources. This paper provides a holistic perspective of datacenter utilization measurement and reservation.
