Abstract
This report deals with the necessity to reduce the use of OPC and increase the utilization of Industrial waste by-products such as Fine plastic, Fly-ash, GGBS asingredients and Sodium hydroxide, Sodium silicate for polymerization to produce Geopolymer concretes alternative to conventional concrete made of OPC. An attempt has been made to study Fine plastic as powder fine aggregate that partially replace sand 10% in Geopolymer concrete along with Fly-ash in this investigations. In this study fine plastic is used as major ingredient and the proportioning of ingredients to form the desired mix was carried out based on the guidelines given in Indian Standards. In this study fine plastic, GGBS, Fly-ash were used in different proportions to achieve mix ratio to replace completely OPC in the production of Geo-polymer Concrete. It is found that the fine plastic under proportion in GPC increases the compressive strength of the Geopolymer concrete. Geo polymer concrete mixes are in this study where cast with aqueousfor polymeresation purpose with different molarity values such as 10M, 12M, 14M, 16M inall mixes 10% of the sand was replaced by fine powder of the plastic waste. The results such as compressive strength and tensile strength for geo polymer concrete mixtures had shown good increase in this strength characteristics with compared with previous study conducted on geo polymer concrete mixes without plastic powder by All the specimen were cured in the room temperature varied 27˚C to 30˚C. Studies were conducted to determine characteristic strength Geo-polymer concrete by testing specimens made of four different proportions with the use of fine plastic, flyash(90%), GGBS(10%) and sodium silicate solutions for polymerization. The specimens thus prepared were cured for required number of days and tested in the concrete laboratory to determine the compressive strength, split tensile strength. The tested results are also compared with geo polymer concrete mixed without fine plastic powder mixes for the fine aggregate and found that GPC had shown better strength shall be used for construction purpose to overcome environmental concerns.
