Abstract: This study investigates the effects of incorporating different percentages of red mud in concrete. Red mud, a byproduct of alumina production, poses significant environmental challenges due to its large-scale generation and potential for hazardous waste disposal. By utilizing red mud as a partial replacement for conventional concrete constituents, this study aims to evaluate its suitability as a sustainable alternative in construction materials. Various percentages of red mud ranging from 0% to [0-7] were added to the concrete mix, replacing cement or fine aggregates. The fresh and hardened properties of the resulting concrete mixtures were assessed, including workability, compressive strength, flexural strength, and durability characteristics. Additionally, the micro structural analysis was conducted to examine the interfacial transition zone between red mud particles and cementaneous matrix. The findings of this study contribute to the understanding of red mud utilization in concrete production and provide insights into its potential as a sustainable solution in the construction industry.
