Abstract

This study examines the relationship between emotional intelligence (EI) and leadership style among defence personnel. It also studies the gender differences in emotional intelligence and leadership styles in male and female defence personnel. The research sample consisted of 134 participants, with 67 males and 67 females, selected from various defence organizations across India. The study used a quantitative approach. Shutters Emotional Intelligence scale and Leadership preference scale by L Bhushan were used to collect data. Descriptive statistics, Pearson’s correlation and student t-test, were used to analyze the results. The findings suggested a significant relationship between emotional intelligence and leadership style. Moreover, it was seen that there is no significant gender difference in emotional intelligence and leadership style among male and female defence personnel
