Dance has come to be highly valued as an art form over the years. Society has come to respect dancers and applaud their work. However, this comes at the cost of challenges that dancers face within the dance community and even the audience. The aim of the research is to explore the hardships dealt by Contemporary dancers and Indian Classical dancers that have a significant impact on their psychological well-being. The variables included in the study were Body Image and Perfectionism. The evaluation of 100 dancers (50 Contemporary dancers and 50 Indian Classical dancers) who were based in Delhi/NCR was done by employing the Body Self-Image Questionnaire – Short Form (BSIQ-SF) (Rowe, 2005), Perfectionism Cognitions Inventory (Flett, Hewitt, Blankstein, Gray, 1998) and the Psychological Wellbeing scale (Ryff, Almeida, Ayanian, Carr, Cleary, Coe, Williams, 2010) (Ryff, Keyes, 1995). The results indicated a significant relationship between Perfectionism - Body Image and Psychological well-being - Perfectionism in the dancers. Furthermore, it was found that there was a difference in variances among the Contemporary dancers and the Indian Classical dancers on Perfectionism and psychological well-being.
