Abstract

Abstract Introduction- Adolescent is bounded by the advent of puberty at the lower end and Capacity to take an adult responsibilities at the upper end .In our society adolescents are’ neither fish nor fowl’ the saying as goes neither child nor adult. It is a transitional stage in life cycle linking childhood and adult hood.The word ‘adolescence’ is a Latin word derived from ‘adolescere’ which means’ to grow into adulthood’. World Health Organisation define, adolescence is period of life between 10 to 19 years .It is an important and sensitive period in the life of an individual.Marriage by scriptural definition “is the blending together of two lives, two personalities of the opposite sex for as long as two shall live in this world. It is the building of a home that respects the law of god and protects the morals of mankind. Marriage may occur as too early as too late .There are numerous problems, a couple can face when marriage happen at an early age. Early marriage is defined as “marriage or union between two parties in which one or both parties are younger than 18 year old’, before the girl is physically, physiologically, psychologically ready to shoulder the responsibility of marriage and child bearing. So early marriage means individual becomes sexually active early, raising children while children themselves. The causes may be due to religious hurdles and barriers, lack of education, pressure from elder members of family and community, lower social status, myths and misconceptions. The effect of early marriage may leads to the occurrences of physiological and psychological stress, denial of freedom and personal development, denial of education. Methodology- This research was pre-experimental in nature and took a phenomenological approach, One group pre test- post test pre experimental design used to conduct the study. The design used in this study was quasi experiment with one group pre-test post test design.Study will be conducted in selected senior secondary school Baghpat . The population of the present study comprise of adolescent girls who are studying in selected senior secondary school Baghpat .The sample size of the present study will be 60 adolescent girls studying in selected senior secondary school .Purposive sampling technique will be adopted to select the samples. Result - Data shows age 14-15 yrs is 30 (50%),16-17yrs is 20 (33.34%)and 18-19yrs is 10 (16.66%) Data shows in class Nuclear Family 38 (63.33), Joint Family 12 (20%)Extended family (16.66%).Data shows in class Primary education 25 (41.67%), Secondary education 20 (33.33%) Graduate 7 (13.34%) post graduate 7 (11.66%).Data given in table no.2 shows in class less than 5000 15( 25%), Rs 5000-10000 20 (33.33%) ,Rs10001-15000 15 (25%),15000above (16.67%). Data shows in Agriculture 40( 66.66%), Private job 8 (13.33%) , Government job 2 (3.33%),Other10 (16.67%).Data shows in Religion 55 (91.66%), Muslim 5 (8.34%) , Chriesten0 (0%),Other0 (0%).Data given in table no.9 shows in Siblings 1 (8.33%), 2 20 (33.33%) , More than 3 (58.33%). Data shows in Friend 10 (16.66%), Social Media 20 (33.33%) , Tele- vision 20 (33.33%)New paper 10(16.66%). The level of significance was 0.05 chi square was used to find out the association between knowledge score and with demographic variables. CONCLUSION Through this study it is concluded that the structured teaching programme was very effective in improving the knowledge of adolescence girls regarding to the early marriage and early pregnancy.
