Abstract
Siddha system of medicine is oldest system of medicine in traditional way it is mainly practiced in southern part of India. In classical literature of Siddha, the system not only treating the disease and also prevent the human from disease. In Siddha system of medicine, when the chronic disease does not response to herbal formulation the disease was treated with higher order drug which is known as Parpam, Chendhooram, Kattu, Kalangu. Commonly the chronic and not curable disease is treated with these kinds of Siddha formulation. Oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) has the highest prevalence compared to other types of cancers. The term cancer mentioned in our Siddha literature which is known as Kazhalai, Vippuruhi, Katti and Puttru noi. The present preclinical study is, to evaluate the anticancer efficacy of Thambira Chendhooram in oral KB cell line. Oral KB cell line was treated with various concentration of Thambira Chendhooram in vitro method and result was noted. The trail drug Thambira Chendhooram was given at different concentration ranges from 6.25, 12.5, 25, 50 and 100 µg /ml acts on the cell viability against human oral KB cell line and the percentage of cells viability is calculated in MTT assay. The IC50 value of Thambira Chendhooram was found to be TC- 78.4589µg/mL µg/ml.
