: Ocimum sanctum also known as Tulsi or holybasil is an aromatic plants and it belong to the family Lamiaceae.The dried powder of tulsi was placed in the thimble of soxhlet apparatus and the experiment was done separately for methanol ethanol and distilled water.The medicinal plants are widely used by the traditional medical practitioners for curing various diseases in their day to day practice. In traditional systems of medicine, different parts (leaves, stem, flower, root, seeds and even whole plant) of Ocimum sanctum Linn (known as Tulsi in Hindi), a small herb seen throughout India, have been recommended for the treatment of bronchitis, bronchial asthma, malaria, diarrhea, dysentery,skin diseases, arthritis, painful eye diseases, chronic fever, insect bite etc. The Ocimum sanctum L. has also been suggested to pposses antifertility, anticancer, antidiabetic, antifungal, antimicrobial,hepatoprotective, cardioprotective, antiemetic, antispasmodic, analgesic,adaptogenic and diaphoretic actions. Tulsi plant has been proven health promoting effect through modulation of variousbiological activities. Tulsi provide wide range of therapeutic applications like cardiopathy, asthma,homeopathy, leukoderma, bronchitis, catarrhal fever, otalgia, hepatopathy, vomiting, lumbago, hiccups, ophthalmia, gastropathy,genitourinary disorders, ringworm, verminosis, and skin disease. Tulsi have been proven effective insupporting the heart, blood vessels, liver and lungs and also regulates blood pressure and blood sugar.
