Abstract

The political changes have an influence on the concepts offered in the novels as well as the perceptions of the nation. The efforts of certain writers to document the historical changes that happened in the new nations as a consequence of these political developments, such as the Civil War and the abolition of slavery, resulted in the formal establishment of a new kind of novel. Many authors have depicted the drama of civil wars in their works, and in doing so, they have attempted to highlight the physical and psychological impact of these wars on individuals. In these works, physical violence is depicted as an attempt by characters to come to terms with an external environment that is either necessarily hostile or indifferent. The three works which are Stephen Crane's The Red Badge of Courage, Khushwant Singh's Train to Pakistan, and Ernest Hemingway's For Whom the Bell Tolls have been evaluated in terms of the impact that the aforementioned ideals have had on the civil wars struggle.
