Abstract: Emotions is an important phase of a school student’s mental life and generally the student’s behavior is revealed to others because of their emotional variation and every day is the great challenge to all the kind of school going student’s especially high school students because they face the educational demands like study work, pressure in scoring marks etc. by balancing their Emotional Intelligence it enables them to get more in academic. In this present study was carried out to find out the difference in E.I of High school Students in relation to Gender (Male & Female) and family type (Nuclear & Joint). A sample of 1100 high school students from a variety of schools of Madurai and Virudhunagar district of Tamilnadu was chosen. Standardized E.I tool developed by Mangal (2001) used for measuring the level of E.I of High School Students. The Present study results revealed a significant difference in the E.I of High school students relation to Joint family. Male high school students possess more E.I than female High School Students. Similarly significant difference is found in the E.I of High school Students in relation to their family type does not influence on high school students.
