Abstract
Digitalization has become an important part of the growth of the modern economy. This has led to the creation of a new term, "Digital Economy," because it promises to add a lot more in a short amount of time. So, when Prime Minister Narendra Modi says that India's digital economy will be worth $1 trillion by 2025 and that the country's digital economy and infrastructure sector have a total potential of $2.5 trillion, not many people are surprised. The study tries to analyse the trend and development of digital payment in India. the paper purely based on secondary data, data collected from RBI, Digi Dhan Dashboard, Statista, Statista Global Consumer Survey, and Statista. The study found that in comparison to the top five countries in terms of transaction value of the countries where Indians transact is very low, but the CAGR value between the study year and now is greater than that of the top five countries. In 2022, the total transaction value of the Digital Payments segment is anticipated to reach $142 billion. According to market experts and statistics, it will reach $1 trillion by 2026. It study shows that there was a drastic increase in the digital transaction volume and value between the 2017-18 to 2021-2022 financial years. It clearly shows that the majority of India's young people use digital payment the majority of the males using the digital payments in India. the majority of people in the middle- and upper-income brackets use digital payments.
