Abstract
This paper explores the reasons behind the establishment of Indian Institute of Science and focuses on the visionary visions of the maharaja towards making Bangalore an educational hub. The significance of the period of Nalwadi Krishna raja Wodeyar is remembered for innumerable developmental activities and establishment of Indian Institute of Science marks another feather in the cap of the benevolent maharaja. Maharaja dreamt of elevating princedom of Mysore to greater heights through academic achievements. Maharaja Rajashri Nalwadi Krishna Raja Wodeyar was instrumental in creation of a world class scientific environment Bangalore. Indian Institute of Science helped in conducting high impact in scientific research. This Indian Institute of Science became a focal point in dissemination of scientific knowledge since 1911 and stands as a milestone in the academic journey of Bangalore towards becoming an educational nucleus.
