| Abstract: | Nyctanthes arbor-tristis (Oleaceae), a mythical plant, is highly prized in Ayurveda for its medicinal properties. Along with being employed as a laxative for rheumatism, and skin conditions, and sedative, this plant is commonly used as an anti-helminthic and antipyretic. Importantly, the locals grow it in their backyard passing on plants and the tradition of using it as medicine to future generations. The objective of the review is to identify any research gaps and therapeutic possibilities by conducting an ethnopharmacological evaluation that focuses on chemical components, pharmacological effects, and toxicology data. |
