Abstract
A Series of substituted 1,1–{bis-[3-hydroxy-4-(3Ι,4Ι-disubstitutedphenyl)-isoxazolin-3-yl]-oxyphenyl}-methanes – (IV) and 1,1–{bis-[3-hydroxy-4-(3Ι,4Ι -disubstitutedphenyl)-isoxazol-3-yl] oxyphenyl}-methanes (VII) have been synthesized by condensation of 1,1–{bis-[3-hydroxy-4-(3Ι,4Ι-disubstituted-phenyl)-prop-2-ene-1-one]-oxyphenyl}-methanes- (II) and 1,1-{bis-[3-hydroxy-4-3-(3 Ι,4 Ι -disubstitutedphenyl)–propane-2-1,3-dione]-oxyphenyl} methanes- (VIB) with hydroxylamine hydrochloride respectively. The compounds were characterized by IR and 1H NMR spectral studies. All the compounds were evaluated for their antibacterial and antifungal activities. The organisms screened were Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Staphylococcus epidermisdis, Salmonella Abony, Candida albicans and Saccharomyces Cerevisia. Comparative study of these synthesized bis-Isoxazolines and bis-Isoxazoles have been carried out in this paper.
