Abstract
The aim of this study was to asses physical fitness using modified Harvard step test in physiotherapy student. Physical fitness is a state of health and well-being and, more specifically, the power to perform aspects of sports, occupations and daily activities. The Harvard step test is a type of cardiac stress test for detecting and diagnosing cardiovascular disease. It's also a good measurement of fitness and a person's ability to recover after a strenuous exercise by checking the recovery rate. This was an experimental study which included 73 participants shall be included. Subjects included in this study were healthy young male and female physiotherapy student with age between 19 to 25 years. Student with locomotor and musculoskeletal disability History of cardiovascular disorder, History of respiratory disorder, History of diabetes mellitus, hypertension, History of major surgery in the recent past were excluded. This study was conducted for 6 months. This Study concluded that physical fitness of physiotherapy students in Jalgaon physiotherapy college is not satisfactory. This may be due to the sedentary life style and lack of sporting activity and also over emphasis on academic pursuits. Female were having better physical fitness than male.
