Abstract The Story is all about the perspective of Sita towards the prestigious story Ramayana. As Divakaruni is fond of Indian Traditions and Customs her novel depicts the Ramayana in her own perspective portraying the orthodox women into modern women who is in thirst to find her identity in the society. The Culture and traditions play a vital role in the society as people especially women are being brought up by listening and following the customs of the tradition as it is a duty of a perfect women in the Patriarchal Society. Thus, Divakaruni has reformed the way of discerning woman from traditional portrayal of simple and Selfless woman into an established woman who has rediscovered herself.
