ABSTRACT- In this modern words digital electronics and automation of systems widely takes part for that the main thing is collection of data ,datas need to be properly collected and manipulated. If we go into agriculture field the role of sensors takes place. In agriculture ne probably use soil moisture sensor, PH level sensor, Clay level sensor, NPK sensor, Soil color sensor, Carbon level sensor these sensor plays a part but the due to cost some sensors may not be applicable for some formers ,so I came up with an cost effective sensor. I build a soil moisture sensor which offers low cost and accurate reading value. It is used to measure soil moisture by identify the water content in the soil. So I came with options in this sensor, it has two types which are resistive type and capacitive type. Resistive type is used to measure the conductivity of the soil and the Capacitive type used to measure the moisture content by reading the water content in the soil. Sensor which I have build gives the digital value of 1’s and 0’ as output and also it gives analog value variation in voltage from 0-5v as output. In a large form field we must use atleast 4 sensors to measure every corner of the field but in proposed method its possible with only one sensor. This sensor has 3 prob leads which can be adjusted as such of form field requirements. So we can measure the water content of the soil using only one sensor.
