Abstract
The “Arthashastra” by Kautilya is primarily a work on state administration. There are fifteen books in the Arthashastra. The first five of these pertain to internal administration, the following eight to relations with neighbouring states, and the latter two to other matters. Kautilya’s Arthashastra focuses on two overarching goals: resource maximisation and optimal management. His economic theories from the fourth century B.C. attempt to be related in this article. The study demonstrates that certain scientific principles are the foundation for Kautilya’s economic theories. The Arthashastra is an excellent example of establishing rules for government administration. His economic theories are still relevant today. As a result, this great leader and philosopher deserve a special place among the most remarkable economic thinkers in history.
