Abstract
Urbanisation is a major change taking place globally. It is a long term process. In fact it is an index of transformation from traditional rural economies to modern urban one. Urbanisation is the increasing number of people that live in urban areas. It predominantly results in the physical growth of urban areas be it horizontal or vertical. Urbanisation is closely linked to modernization industrialization and sociological process of rationalization. The present study emphasize on the distribution, growth and development of urbanisation in Haryana. The nature and degree of urbanisation has not been the same across at different regional levels. At the level of urbanisation many differences and variations are witnessed by various regions and states in India. The variance in this regard is found in Haryana also. This analysis is based on the spatial geographical pattern of Haryana that has been depicted on map. The study reveals that some parts of the state have high concentration of urban population while some parts have low concentration. In northern and south–eastern Haryana transport connectivity leads to high level of urbanisation, growth and migration tendency while in western and south west part has low level of urbanisation.
