Abstract
Isolation of Actinomycetes bacteria from collected soil samples of five dfferent parts of Kokrajhar District. Areas of sample collection are Baokungri hill, Kokrajhar Tea Estate, Balagaon pt.1 and Gaurang. The pH of collected soil samples were tested. For the isolation modified lab media was used. The modified lab media consisted of Distilled water, Tryptone (Casein Enzyme Hydrolysate), Starch powder, Fluconazole, Amoxicillin. The colony studies of Actinomycetes shows that CFU/gram of soil sample was maximum in paddy soil with colony formation ranging from 35 to 384. The lowest colony formation was seen in river soil with colonies ranging from 1 to 10. Pure culture isolation was done for A1, A2, A3, A4 and A5. In all the samples the colony characters consist of white, round, cottony and raised colonies. Screening of amylase activity showed positive result.
