with the economic reforms introduced in Indian Economy in 1991, internal migration across sub regions takes a wide part for improving the general standard of living of common people. This paper attempts to locate several aspects of internal outmigration within the country of India as a response to development strategies undertaken by the common people at a state level. This paper further focuses to understand if migrant females are better off than their male counterparts in specific migrated areas. Further it looks into the policies of the government to accommodate migrants in urban areas. To achieve this purpose the study relies on secondary sources, available literature and government reports as well as reports of international bodies on India on internal migration are analysed.
