This paper explains the why and how of making a fixture in such a way that its concept can be utilized anywhere else. The project addresses the problem of efficient work holding of a particular part (actuator), and makes its machining a lot easier by developing a fixture which allows machining of all operations in a single setup. This project results approx. 30% decrease in total production time. Fixtures make workpiece steadier which in turn allows for use of higher feed which in turn results in reduction in cycle time with better quality of product.
