Abstract
To improve the production target and to overcome shortage of technical labors, most of the manufacturing industries are adopting automation. The main aim for selecting this project work is to gain technical knowledge in the field of automation using pneumatics. In this project, the work piece is clamped automatically with the pneumatic cylinder and hence the name pneumatic vice. In this vice unit one air cylinder is used to clamp the job. This cylinder is mounted on base plate. The piston rod of the cylinder is screwed to the moving plate in the platform. When the valve is turned on, the 5/2-way DC valve directs the air to the air cylinder and hence the moving plate is moved to clamp the object. The piston rod will return to original position, when the valve is turned OFF. Thus, In the present work initially a selection of appropriate systems, procedures and CAD diagrams were adopted to fabricate the pneumatic vice set-up practically.
