The finance ministry opines that the merger of the 10 public sector banks will help India to make a US 5 trillion economy. The bank merger was done under the bank consolidation plan of the union government. In order to increase the national presence of banks and to reach their global level, the merger of the banks was necessary. During this process the amalgamated bank was handed over to the Anchor Bank. The merger of the bank are expected to be completed by the end of the current financial year March 31, 2020. The study tries to analyse the next generation public sector banks, the banks to be merged with the Anchor banks, impact of merging, capital infusion in the public sector banks.
