Nano Technology is the science and technology of small things that are less than 100nm in size. The application of Nano technology has added a new dimension to efforts to improves in its mechanical & durability properties. One of the most important building material in civil engineering is concrete. Concrete is the most common used material for construction and consumes almost the total cement production in the world. The use of large quantities of cement produces increasing CO² emission, and as a consequence the green effect. To reduce the cement content in concrete mixes one of the silica fines with high potential as cement replacement and as concrete additive is Nano-silica (Ns). however, the commercial Nano silica is synthesised in a rather complex way, resulting in high purity and complex processes that make them non-feasible for the construction industry. Nano silica, by virtue of their small particle size can fill voids present in concrete & alter the concrete properties. Silica fume is used as pozzolana material for high performance of concrete. An experimental investigation has been carried by replacing the cement with Nano silica of 2%,3%,4% b.w.c. The slump cone test is conducted for fresh concrete. The hardened concrete is allowed for mechanical test (compressive & split tensile) & durability test (RCPT & WPT & Sorptivity test) for 28 days. To obtain a sustainable concrete, it should have high strength with low permeability. The result show that combined use of Nano silica & silica fume increase the mechanical strength & durability.
