This study formulated organic hand cream moisturizers using oil-based Oyster (Ostrea forskali) shell extracts with Ylang-Ylang (Cananga odorata) scent. This utilized a quantitative method of research, particularly the true experimental design in the academic year 2022-2023. To effectively attain the objectives of this study, the researchers followed the adopted but modified protocol from N-Essentials (2020). The ingredients in the formulation included the 6.53g oil-based Oyster shell, 400 ml water, 3.5g Beeswax, 13.29g Shea Butter, 2 capsules of Myra-E, and 15 drops of Ylang-Ylang essential oil. Furthermore, to determine whether or not the formulated organic hand cream moisturizers would irritate the skin, they underwent a dermatological test through a patch test. It was found that the formulated organic hand cream moisturizers did not cause any irritation on the skin of human subjects after 24 hours of application. Also, to compare the formulated organic hand cream moisturizers with the commercial Milk Yogurt hand cream moisturizer available in the market, a comparative analysis was done using T-test, and it revealed that both the treatment and control groups demonstrated the same property of being suitable for the skin for it had caused no irritation on both sample groups of human subjects when the dermatological test was performed. Hence, it is recommended that future researchers may use other fragrances, Oyster flesh, or meat for comparative analysis, and other tests like pH level, washability, viscosity, phase separation, and spreadability may be performed as evaluation parameters of the formulated hand cream moisturizer.
