The new threat space is evolving and AI is being used in cyber warfare and this presents both the advantages and the challenges for the security professionals and policy makers. This research is carried out to see how Artificial Intelligence (AI) and cyber warfare are evolving, and it focuses on historical perspectives, defensive AI strategies, threat assessments, and case studies of significant cyberattacks. It highlights the complexity and severity of AI-involved cyberattacks by exploring famous cases like the Marriot data breach, the Stuxnet attack, and the NotPetya ransomware. Despite the promise, defensive AI meets with challenges like adversarial machine learning, false positives and negatives, and privacy challenges. It does say, nonetheless, that there is a need for more research and development to increase the efficiency and ethical use of AI in cybersecurity.
