Anthony Doerr is an American author was born on 27 October 1973 in Cleveland, Ohio. His works short stories and novels won five O. Henry Prizes. His first collection of short stories The Shell Collector and his debut novel About Grace are the most famous. His works translated into forty languages. The novel All the Light We Cannot See portrays the highlights in the background of World War II. Marie, a blind French girl, a protagonist despite her blindness, her intellectual curiosity gives her a deep grasp. This serves as a shield for her struggles. Werner, a German boy, a protagonist who joins the Nazi army by his radio proficiency. His loyalty to his country, his knowledge of the horrors committed by the Nazi, it cause him to struggle morally. Cultural knowledge provides a sense of identity in the face of occupation, just like Marie’s links to French background does. The title alludes to unknown information, which is indicative of the moral dilemmas and concealed facts. Knowledge influences morality, survival and decision making throughout the lime light of the significant effects of war on people’s life. The novel acknowledges the horror of the conflict and the ways how individuals struggle to survive and to find their destiny. This paper includes the knowledge able experts and their struggles to defeat the German force’s dominance. This has nothing to do with the war in its purest form. The story is mainly deals with the diamond The Sea of Flames. Knowledge of science and technology allows from mining enslavement.
